Ono no onie (小野小贄)

Ono no onie (year of birth and death unknown) is a court noble in the Nara Period. His main name is Ono no asomi.

On June 24, 752 in the reign of Emperor Shomu, he was granted Jugoinoge (Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade), and on December 17 in the same year, he was appointed to Shimotsuke no kuni no kami (the governor of Shimotsuke Province).

On January 9, 763, in the reign of Emperor Junnin, he commenced to serve as Kura no suke (a position of the Bureau of Palace Storehouses), and on June 4 in the same year, he commenced to serve as Shoyu (Junior Assistant Minister). He was transferred to Kii Province as he commenced to serve as Kii no kuni no kami (the governor of Kii Province) on March 2, 764.

On February 9, 765, in the reign of Empress Shotoku, he was promoted to Jugoinojo (Junior Fifth Rank, Upper Grade), and on March 8 in the same year, he commenced to serve as Ueji no kami (Guard chief). In October in the same year, Empress Shotoku visited Kii Province. Onie, who was Kii no kami (Governor of Kii Province), accompanied her, and was promoted to Shogoinoge (Senior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade) on December 13 in the same year. On the 26th of December, when they reached Fuke Angu (temporary lodging built to accommodate an Imperial visit) in Hine-gun, Izumi Province on the way back home, the weather worsened. Onie went a separate way for home. At this time, he was granted tsumugi (pongee) 30 hiki and cotton 200 hiki by Empress Shotoku. On September 27, 769, Onie was appointed to Nakatsukasa no taifu (Senior Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Central Affairs). On July 17, 771 in the following year, he was assigned to Dazai no shoni, and on October 20, 772, he was assigned to daibu (master) of Settsu Province.
